Generals.io is a fun strategy style .io game that you find online. It is browser based, meaning it requires no download to play, and does not require registration to play. Simply login as a guest to get going! You play a a nation that has the goal of conquering the land around you to build a larger army. Other players lay right outside your view (via the fog of war feature) plotting to take you over. As you take over new tiles, those units then begin to produce units. However, you do lose a unit from your largest army each time you conquer a tile. If you take over an outpost, you have to have an army larger than theirs. Once conquered, these outposts will produce units at a higher rate than normal tiles. Overall, we enjoyed the challenge that comes with generals.io, reminiscent of Risk or Settlers of Catan. Enjoy!

The basic generals.io strategy that we recommend is to conquer a number of tiles in your proximity right off the bat because each tile will start to produce additional units for your army. The more tiles you have conquered, the more unit you will produce. Be careful not to spread yourself too thin, though, because your enemy may come in with their entire army, and as long as their army is larger than the number in your capitol, they will conquer you, regardless of how many units you have. So, build out your army, but not too far away from  your base.

The generals.io controls are pretty simple.While the keyboard and mouse are available to move your army around, you really only need to use the mouse. To move your army, click with the left mouse button the desired unit. Once selected, the four tiles around yours will gray out, indicating the directions you can travel. Once you decide where to move, click on that gray tile. You can also move your army with the keyboard arrows once they are selected. This method actually results in faster move, which may come into play when battling other armies. This are the basic controls. Have fun!
